Reminds me of the time I visited the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. The building and environs are of direct interest to a wide and diverse group of Christian Denominations. And are governed by a very large series of contracts and agreements reached over centuries of disputes.

Needless to say, it is human nature to test boundaries. And human nature to react… energetically… such boundary testing.

And it is human nature to remember things that happened, or perhaps didn’t actually happen in previous millennia.

YIKES! Pretty telling that the rival Christian gangs have to entrust the main key to a local Muslim family. That should go a step further. The Israeli government should take it over, evict the current squabblers, and declare it an international cultural monument (which it is, after all). They could then auction off an exclusive 20 year management and access concession to the highest bidder; subject to certain conditions of course. True, Kenneth Copeland or some other high dollar pulpit pimp might win, but it wouldn’t be any more of a circus than it has been for centuries and we could at least count on him to fix the roof and put in a fire exit.
