Texas DMV Considers Issuing Confederate Flag License Plate

It’s worth noting that Texas offers over 100 different designs for license plates, including the Come and Take It flag and the Gadsden flag:

Just look under Texas Themes for both flags. The Confederate one wouldn’t be anything out of character.

Tennessee (my state) also offers a SCV plate among the umpteen plate the DMV offers:
Specialty License Plates - Clubs/Organizations

and a Choose Life plate:
Specialty License Plates - Miscellaneous

As much as I want to get uptight about this issue with the license plate, I just can’t. Two things keep me from going there: a) whoever gets those plates is advertising to me that they’re a fucking throwback cretin (so I know to avoid them) and b) usually about half of the registration fee out of every specialty plate, over and above what the state, cities, and counties charge for a normal registration, goes to the TN Arts Commission (the organization that sponsors the plate gets the rest, typically about $15 or so per plate, though some orgs have deals that give them almost all of the specialty fee, such as the HBCU fraternity/sorority plates [that goes into a fund to benefit HBCUs in the state]).
