Family has to come first, and he’s got to deal with the heartbreaking situation of his daughter’s ongoing illness. The Santorum family is going to be facing some real tough days ahead with his daughter’s situation.

This is something that Santorum’s daughter has been and will be dealing with for the rest of her life (may it be a long and not-unpleasant one). It’s not some sort of unforeseen circumstance that throws things up in a tizzy. I think concentration on Santorum’s dropping out of the race should not be conflated with concentration on his daughter’s health problems; I think any link is likely to be a straw-breaking-camel’s-back situation, at most.
