Yeah, it’s hard to tell from such small quotes. He might have a grudge, he might not have agreed with the way the deal went down, he might have thought it was the greatest deal ever. There’s no way to tell from the article.
Either way I think the CPI fact check is pretty thorough and seems pretty honest. I’m guessing politifact will rate this one as half true when they get around to rating it. But that’s not really the point. Will the low information rubes that the ad is targeting believe it? Maybe but I’m guessing they left enough wiggle room for Mitt to respond/spin with a retort. Probably not a devastating ad but I guess it’s part of a larger campaign to paint Mitt as a Gordon Gecko type villain. It could work in the long run.
