The present-day level of civilization prevents these cavemen from saying what they really think about rape (i.e., that rape is a property crime, and the victim is whichever man owns the property in question (e.g., father, brother, husband)).

Pretty much it’s exactly what Lee Atwater was talking about when he made that famous 3xNi-CLANG statement. If this guy (and Akin/Mourdock et al.) actually spoke what they believed, they’d say that women are property to be owned, traded, and bartered, to serve them when they see fit. I’d also bet they’d say the same thing about certain people who should still be slaves in their minds.

They can’t in today’s society, so they code-word everything.
