Fuck the loonies, Boehner needs to grow some balls, put a clean bill to address the shutdown and the debt ceiling on the floor, and be done with it. There’s no way that he can address both and still remain speaker. There will be no negotiations, no deal, no last minute effort to save his sorry ass yet again.

Actually, I think Nancy Pelosi should offer him the following (non-publicly at first): If Boehner passes a 3-6 month debt ceiling extension then she and Steny Hoyer agree to get Democrats to vote for Boehner as speaker for the duration of the extension. That would at least take the immediate pressure off. It would still enrage the worst of the wingnuts, but a confrontation between them and the rest of Congress is inevitable. Best to just get it over with.
