Yeah you don’t hear much at all from him which is honestly surprising. Perhaps he just wants to enjoy retirement. He had a lot of time in public life even before he became Indiana’s Senator. I believe Indianapolis’ mayor in 1968. He seemed like a decent guy to me. More conservative than me personally but a decent guy much like Chuck Hagel was and not surprisingly he was someone that Obama as a Senator worked with on foreign policy issues since Lugar was a FP guy and not a culture warrior.

I was always fond of him. He’s a throwback to the old-style Republicans who cared about the country. I may not have agreed with all his policies but would have been perfectly comfortable with a Republican Senate that consisted of Senators with his ethics and outlook.
