I don’t claim to have the sophistication to know everything there is to know about Shakespeare. I have never seen one of his plays nor read one.

That said, my understanding of “Julius Caesar” as it has been performed is that the character of Caesar has usually been portrayed in the terms of contemporary political situations.

I would appreciate a one-comment education on this if I have that wrong.

I’m just bringing up the fact that a whole lot of people on the right treat every black man as the same scary black person because they cannot seem to tell the difference between them. They do the same thing with black women. Then, somehow, the man in the 2012 production doesn’t look like Obama.
