Yeah, he does: but as usual with Brooks, he tries to hide it behind a scrim of “concern” for the cultural sensitivities of “just plain folks” Real Americans, There’s no doubt HE knows what all that stuff is*, but likes to put on that it’s some sort of National Tragedy that (in the minds of his strawman upper-crust liberal snobs) those JPFs have to know the “right” foods, goods, etc. to seem “real” to those straw libs: and of course, earning Pundit Points for himself for pointing it out.

* Standard Italian deli goods: most people in New York (educational attainments notwithstanding) would know what they are.
