Every Japanese automaker has factories here in the US because they’ve found it cheaper to produce them closer to where they’re purchased than to try and ship them from Japan (they also lack factory capacity to do all their production in Japan, plus there are tax benefits to building domestically in US, etc.).

Trump doesn’t know or care about the facts. But he will tout that they are building them here as though this is some new fact he’s unearthed and can take credit for.
