You know how we defeated Communism? By making it clear that Capitalism could be something other than a rapacious scheme to enrich the rich and impoverish the poor. We did that by regulating it and using it to enrich everyone. It made Americans believe in Capitalism, because they saw that it could be made to work for the population as a whole, instead of just for the few.

But what have the Millennials seen? They’ve seen Capitalism increasingly favor the wealthy, while it fails to provide the same opportunities that their parents and grandparents got when they were young. Why, then, should they feel any particular love for Capitalism?

And lets be honest and upfront here: Soviet Communism defeated itself through unsustainability. We didn’t ‘defeat’ it, we outlasted it. And from the looks of it, we’re starting to collapse from our own unsustainability, masked by just how well the top of the board is doing.
