When I first moved to Houston with my family from Venezuela I was puzzled to be corrected on the pronunciation of San Felipe Street.
“It’s San Fillipee, dummy!”

If you had moved to GA:

Houston ave is pronounced HOUSEtin.

Albany is pronounced ALL-Bennie.
