Yeah, there was a lot of hope that he wasn’t really the racist anti-American, left-wing extremist that he had made himself out to be throughout his political career. That he was just a Hillary-esque political shape-changer, who would say whatever it took to please whatever constituency he was currently courting, but that ultimately he’d rise to the occasion and act responsibly when he assumed office.

Oh well.

It’s not that I thought that, but I thought that he would be politically savvy enough not to go “all-in” in his first 60 days. Most savvy politicians try their damndest to guard their warehouse of political capital - Obama is betting it all on one roll of the dice.
