It is a mockery of another piece written by someone who’s just as much of a tool as Douthat, that suggests that nerd porn is bad because nerds suck and deserve swirlies. Douthat, being a cultist, reads that and automatically projects his one overriding thought - liberals are evil - onto it. I imagine that he projects that thought onto basically everything he reads. Reading a restaurant menu with this thought uppermost in mind must be awful.

Oh wait, David Brooks just did that and wrote about it.
