Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area. Everyone is a little slower to get around this morning, particularly because of last night’s festivities at Yankee Stadium where the Yanks once again became the evil empire and won their 27th World Championship. Phillie fans can digest that; and Jimmie Rollins isn’t so much Nostradamus as he was a nonfactor in the series. The Phillies couldn’t hit and they couldn’t pitch (other than Cliff Lee, who was a midseason addition along with Pedro Martinez who once again found the Yanks were his daddy).

The City is also dealing with the fallout from Tuesday’s elections, and people are wondering what if Obama had come calling to help Democrat Bill Thompson attempt to defeat Mike Bloomberg’s reelection effort. For all the issues with the GOP and the schism over NY-23, the NYC efforts appear to have revealed some serious issues among Democrats.

Thompson came close, but Obama and the White House did nothing to help.

There’s a reason for that as it appears that there was a quid pro quo between Bloomberg and Obama not to interfere in the other’s elections. If that’s the case, it wouldn’t have mattered who ran on the Democratic ticket; the White House wasn’t going to step in.
