Mostly because she didn’t give herself enough credit. She should have told Sanders that he’d be treated with respect like other defeated candidates, but she instead allowed him to write much of the party platform and to eliminate superdelegates’ first-ballot votes because they didn’t endorse him (because they knew he wasn’t fit for the White House).

The Democrats need to affirm themselves to a liberal, pragmatic set of policies without veering into “socialism.” No “Fight for 15” where that would cost jobs (which is almost everywhere outside a few cities with very high costs of living). No Emm Four Ay. No You Bee Eye.

I really think should he run this next time, Sanders is in for a rude awakening. And I’m glad because there are a lot of legitimate attacks that one can make on him from the left. Steve King singing his praises on his immigration record would be something I would pounce on as would his hypocrisy on guns.
