Fixer Upper buys lower priced homes, but they get their marks on the back end. There’s a clause in the contracts for people who get work done that they have to come in with a minimum of $35K for renovation.

And the whole ‘picking out a house’ segment in the opening is fake. Anyone on that show has already bought the house they ‘end up choosing.’

What I object to as far as the Gainses are concerned is promulgating the illusion that dropping tons of money on fixing up a house is easy and obtainable. And their thinly-veiled Christianity bothers me.

Can confirm. I have a friend who sold his house in Costa Rica. Several months later the buyers were on “Beachfront Bargains” pretending to “think” about which house they were going to buy. Spoiler alert: they ended up “choosing” the house they had purchased months prior.
