re: #384 iceweasel
Hurrah for the Onion! They made a great point here.
But (seriously) speaking of flag laws, there’s recently been some flag-related litigation that bugs me.
There have been dozens of cases like this, so I’ll cite one as an example:
and this
(sorry, I didn’t have time to find reputable sites for the links)
And in response to this, legislators have been legislating:
Here’s what bugs me: These people, fully informed with agents and lawyers, signed contracts when they bought their property. They’re the unpatriotic ones because they knowingly signed a contract that restricted them from flying an American flag on a flagpole!
It seems “Unamerican” to sign a contract, and then have the Government try to make it null and void through legislation. The second flag story calls the HOA “socialist”, but who’s the socialist here? I think it’s the people who want the GOVERNMENT to override a CONTRACT between two fully-informed people (who most likely had expert representation with them when they signed the thing.)
I purposely elected to buy property that had no CC&R restrictions and no HOA. That’s because I love America (slight sarcasm here, but only slight.).
