re: #401 Feline Fearless Leader

There’s a reason the US Army does winter training at Ft Drum. And that was southeast of us a ways.

The town we lived in (Massena) challenged places in Minnesota for coldest place in the lower 48 every so often. Old Forge, which is near Ft Drum was often as cold (or colder), but I don’t think they had an official weather station. They got more snow too since they sit on the lee side of Lake Ontario on an elevation (Tug Hill Plateau).

I see. I remember my grandfather, Korean War veteran who experienced some pretty cold winters as a kid in Johnstown, Pennsylvania telling me that Korea was one of the coldest places he had ever gone to. I think when we talk about the Korean War, we never factor in the climate. I think a lot of Americans don’t realize how close to Siberia the Koreas are.
