That’s one of the more annoying plot devices in Gravity. For it to work, both stations would need to be in the exact same orbit, traveling in the same direction. This, AFAIK, never happens.

I know it’s “just a movie,” and I enjoyed watching it, but the physics teacher in me wants to send a strongly worded letter to the filmmakers.

It’s a very lame movie unless you watch it in IMAX 3D.
