About Mr. Trump winning with all his -isms and -phobias, I would argue that Mr. Trump’s appeal (and remember, he is the minority President-elect) is something like the German Battle of the Bulge.

It is the last dying gasp of that old Jim Crow order, and they have thrown everything they have into the final battle.

The line may bend, but it will not break. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King was not wrong, and this seems more like a setback rather than destruction of Progressivism.

No combat, social, political, or military consists of a string of victories. Sometimes the losses are painful.

But even if the reactionaries succeed in dragging us backward, they cannot drag us back all the way (two steps forward, one step back).
