The gun issue is going to be very difficult because it’s not so much an issue of the right to self-defense for a lot of people, it’s the right to have this one particular thing, consequences be damned.

It is already being framed as “anti-gun” or “pro-confiscation”. But that is not the point at all. It is about establishing effective liability and responsibility for gun use, sale and ownership, which are currently lacking in our extremely pro-gun legal and social climate.
