I’m beginning to think that when my wife and I take our trip to Germany in May for a conference/meet-and-greet, I should ask the Swiss organiser (who has a soft spot for the two of us) if he can sponsor us for asylum in Switzerland.

Switzerland? Well, on the plus side you’re white, on the minus side you’re not rich. About a 20% chance of getting asylum there. My ex’s mother’s family is from Switzerland. Nice place but they don’t do asylum unless you can pay your way. You’d have a far better chance applying in Canada.
