Yeah, way too early in life I accidentally stumbled upon a medical text having to do with parasites. Not realizing that curiosity permanently damaged the cat, I read the whole thing.

The most downright gross one was ascaris lumbricoides, which is an absurdly large (18 inches plus) worm that enters the digestive system as a fertilized egg and migrates all throughout the bloodstream until it eventually ends up in the lungs. Infected people frequently cough up masses of fully-developed adult worms. Some of them make their way from the trachea to the esophagus and back into the stomach, where the whole wretched cycle begins again. The best part is about 17% of the human population carries it.
