U.S. Marine held in Mexican prison on weapons charge

I was born & raised in South Central Texas. I’ve been across the Texas-Mexico border dozens of times. The idea that someone can “accidentally” drive into Mexico stirkes me as patently absurd. I don’t know about where he crossed, but in Texas unless you’re in some really out of the way place there’s no mistaking when you’re approaching the freaking border.

There are no unmanned US-Mexico border crossings you can drive through AFAIK, so his claim sounds like pure bullshit to me.
