OT, I will take this moment to pimp a pretty good first SF novel by a former student of mine, Olivia A. Cole, Panther in the Hive.

It’s a dystopian future, set in Chicago. A major health care/health insurance corporation has convinced people (who can afford it) to accept chip implants that will keep them disease-free for the rest of their lives. Only, something goes wrong, and our young, un-chipped heroine has to learn survival skills quick to avoid being killed by zombie-like chipped citizens.

And while I’m at it, another of my former students, Kimberly Levin, has her original movie, Runoff, premiering next month at the LA Film Festival. She wrote and directed it.

You had kids like this and moved to China? Damn, Wheat, you had a pretty good stable of talent back in the day.
