Break out the popcorn. There is another outbreak of civil war at Free Republic re the Duggars. This time it is over a breathless post revealing that the tabloid that exposed the “inappropriate touching” story is owned by a German conglomerate that also traffics in pornography.

Needless to say, this is an utterly irrelevant ad hominem since the basic facts are not in dispute and it would not matter if Satan himself had initially revealed them.

Some of the freepers have predictably jumped right on this as proof of an anti-Christian agenda in the revelations, if not an actual Obammunist conspiracy.

That last bit is the item that’s lost in all this: The authorities didn’t get mixed up in this until after Josh was 18, which means there was no seal on those records. To get them sealed, he or his parents would have had to petition a judge to seal them. And doing that would have raised some serious red flags at a time when the family was just beginning to draw the attention of the media.
