It happens here once or twice a year, a high school or young college player falls out during practice and doesn’t recover. I think these heart defects are probably minor to most people who live and survive without being super athletic. But add in heavy training, often to the point of exhaustion, heat, maybe a lack of water or fluids during practice and games and that defect gets tested, often to the point of failure or permanent damage.
