Also interesting is the use of the derogatory term for Hungarians (Hunkies) in the song. I don’t remember any derogatory terms for Croatian or Serb ethnicity from growing up in Pittsburgh. And ethnic identity was pretty important back in those day.

The first time I heard Stokely Carmichael or somebody use the word “Honkey” I wondered what he had against Hungarians.
