Been to Alaska three times for training, temps were around -25F to -35F without wind chill.
It looked like we were going to parachute into the Yukon at -75F during Brim Frost ‘89, but jump got scrubbed when the Canadians crashed a C-130 at Elmendorf AFB.
The cold temps saved a bunch of the Canadians, slowed their blood loss.

But nothing was quite as fun as dropping your drawers outside to take a crap at 30 below in a 20 knot breeze

Man I just can’t imagine that. As I said, I’m a wuss when it comes to cold weather. First day of fall and I’m waiting for it to be Spring or Summer. I’m a warm weather person all the way.
