I hope not. While I am a big fan of Law Enforcement, this is going over the line. If they have enough proof to get a warrant, fine, go for it (for the record, I even posted about LE in my area catching some copper thieves using this tech). But to trespass onto private property to place a tracking device, without a warrant is wrong. And the excuse that it is just the same as physically trailing someone is just false. Watch the video. What is next? putting a wireless mike outside someone’s home to catch potentially incriminating remarks just because they didn’t post a No Trespassing sign?

Slippery slope in my opinion.

Well, you could invest in a good bug detector. A signal sweeper can pick up the thing’s transmissions and help you locate it. And once you find it, smash it. That would set the cops back a few dollars.
