I’ve spent the last year or so going through 60+ boxes of my 92-year-old mom’s papers (hoarder gene? what’s that?). One of the finds is a copy of the Great Falls Tribune for VJ Day. She saved the one from VE Day too, but haven’t unearthed it yet.

Both VJ and VE bring a smile to my face recalling friendly scenes on the streets where people were carrying a bottle the their favorite whiskey to offer a drink to whoever. Police just looked the other way unless they got rowdy.
