When we won the revolution, we got help from the French and Spanish empires and also the Dutch. A lot of people wrongfully perceive the American revolution as being won by plucky minutemen going up against the British empire and make no respect the minutemen were brave but we did have external help. There’s a reason why we have Fort Pulaski, why Pershing said “Lafayette we have arrived.” when the AED arrived in France during WWI, etc.

And Yorktowne was a classic European-style siege.
