The suspicion for ages now is that the NRA counts a lot of those who allowed their “free” membership to lapse or have since left in order to inflate their membership rolls. That if they ever cleaned those two groups out, we’d find that there’s really little more than a skeleton left. It’s bones composed primarily of the far-right crazies who think they’re gonna be the guerilla fighters against a coming fascist takeover.

I would be curious to find out from the folks who dumped the NRA what size organization they think the NRA really is based upon member discount participation.

I think the number of members using the services would be closer to the Cocker Spaniel Breeder’s Association than the AARP.
