re: #408 Decatur Deb
Around1960 a Jesuit magazine carried a discussion of the morality of shooting your unprepared neighbors if they rushed your home shelter. Aquinas could be a motherfucker.
I’m reminded of the story I read how one night, St Francis woke up in the middle of the night to hear a young fellow crying from homesickness. He woke every one and held an impromptu party to help feel at home with them. Since in the scenario described, we’re all going to be dead shortly anyway, sharing and enjoying what little time remains would be far more Christian than the solution your Jusuit proposed. But what do I know?
