There’s another thing but I think Trump benefited as a challenger in a way he won’t as an incumbent. Trump’s whole thing has always been “I can do it better than anyone else” and we’re seeing that to be a total sham. That does go with your 3 though.

For pretty much my entire life, I’ve been hearing some formulation of “not another career politician” or “we need to run government like a business”. Trump offered voters both of those things. And older white folks jumped on it, to the chagrin of [checks notes] every fucking one else on the planet.
