I’m beginning to think we need to find ways to decouple the offices of the president and vice-president.

For one, I’m not sure it makes sense to consider the VP part of the executive branch, since most of the office’s constitutional duties are actually legislative in nature.

Part of me feels like it would be better to actually vote for the offices separately (how that would effect the actual electoral vote is another question, but most states bind their electors to the popular will anyway).

Wasn’t that the original system set up by the Constitution til it was changed by the Twelfth (?) Amendment?
It had its flaws, but I wonder what the political scene would look like today, if Hillary Clinton , rather than Mike Pence, was next in line..?
