On watch repair forums, aspiring hobbyist watch repairers often post, asking about this or that kit they found on Ebay, or Harbor Freight. We tell ‘em don’t cheap out on tools. Cheap tools will break your heart, when you try to hold that tiny jewel to clean it and it snaps into oblivion.

Likewise, kitchen cutlery. I had a cheap plastic knife handle shatter while I was slicing cheese one time. Luckily, no damage to me resulted.
