I’m no civil engineer and I’m almost positive this has already or is already being looked at but if we can use huge fucking pipelines to send oil all around the country, could we possibly use similar pipelines to transport freshwater?

My area has had record rainfall this year, It’d be neat if there was a way to export some of that water to places that need it if the technology existed.

There would be an enormous amount of hell raised by people worried that water from their region was getting sucked up to grow Almond trees in California. I would prefer desalination myself. How massive would a 100 million gallon a day desalination plant have to be? That wouldn’t cover all of LA, but it also wouldn’t exactly be a drop in a bucket.
