I’ve been thinking recently about the idea of basic guaranteed income, and have been doing some very basic research on the idea. It’s quite interesting who has supported the idea in some way or another over the years: Thomas Paine, MLK, Milton Freedman, Nixon. Might do a page on it once I’ve got my thoughts in order.

I support a version that pays out annually - you send in your tax form and if you’re below $x,000 you get a check for the amount to take you up to X. Some will waste it but more won’t and it would be a huge boost to the economy. I think giving people the presumption that they will use it correctly will get folks doing so.
