It’s a control issue thing. Also, when I was a kid I saw this happen:

It took me a while to fly again after that, and I would never fly in bad weather. Then 9/11 happened and I decided that I’d rather fly myself. Of course it’s helpful that the boyfriend is a retired marine and a Certified Flight Instructor.
