I am assuming put the sarc tag there to denote the stupidity of pollution stopping the expansion of a species.

But, pollution is not an impediment to most carp, they are very hardy fish. Pollution would, most likely, help select for carp domination.

I did not know as I am not a fish fan. Though I will fight for their right to exist… except for the asian carp in America.
