I think we’re in a different world from the 1980s and before, where you could envision one party taking >40 states. Just by virtue of being the GOP candidate, Trump would have a hard floor at 45%.

I think you’re right about that but I do wonder about what would happen if the economy went south. That said. Yeah I think the days of true landslides are gone.
