In large part, I imagine, because Donald Trump probably (sincerely, fwiw) doesn’t see his crimes as “crimes” per se - just “sharp business practices” - cavils about the strict legality of which can easily be dismissed as the jealous carping of “losers and haters”; i.e. anyone not Donald Trump or one of his adulatory supporters.
