My wife and I have a standing invitation to travel to Russia with my sister-in-law. (She frequently travels there as she was once a Soviet citizen and has family there.) We have a standing “no thank you.”

There are things which would be interesting to see there (the Kremlin, the Hermitage Museum, &c) but not enough to entice me.

I visited Moscow in 2007, when my son was living there. It was a great vacation and we visited all the tourist spots: the Kremlin, Red Square, GUM (which is now a mall with very exclusive designer shops), Napoleonic Invasion museum, and the Pirate Mall (where you can get any hacked software & new movie release, malware & viruses included free!)
