My boss has my back on this. But advised that I should have put out a notice that the approval security was being adjusted in any case. And folk above my pay scale are still working out how to fix this. (There was a misunderstanding of what the various security settings actually entailed.) I made a recommendation yesterday on what to change - which boils down to officially doing what was previously the status quo.

IT Security folk are a bit like Internal Affairs. Necessary, but disliked due to the fact they step on toes and occasionally stop you from doing things the “easy way”.

Yeah, I know the feeling. At development houses, QA people are often looked at the same way. They put out a product that they think is absolutely awesome and flawless, and we rip it to shreds and send it back. They tend not to like that. All the more ironic is that now the coin is flipped and I’m writing the code that is getting ripped apart.
