I have read that the AT&T network gets really screwy when you get around big crowds where a number of iphone users are vying for limited bandwidth. I don’t have one, so I do not know if this is true. Apparently iphone users use up a lot more than other smart phones.

That’s true, it does use up a lot of bandwidth. Simple answer: switch to Sprint and buy a Palm Pre. It’s internet is just as fast and it’ll be even faster once we roll out 4G.
