Everything is now pressing flesh and getting people to vouch for you who don’t know you from Adam. I cannot tell you how utterly demoralizing and disgusting the whole affair becomes. Every time you talk to somebody who might know someone who can get you a job, it feels like you are becoming a sort of hooker, so to speak.
