Who is ‘we’? I think that it is something said by religious Jews about the nation of Jews, asserting that (name of god) is the god of the Jews.
Again:
What does that have to do with the importance of secular Zionism in the foundation of Israel, or the way that Herzl envisioned religion not playing a large part in the politics of Israel?
Herzl did not have a life-change where he became more religious. He simply saw that the Jews would never be unpersecuted.
