When I was littler, I read a war comic about a battle in the Russo-Finnish war, told from the Finns’ side.

The morning of the battle, it was nippy and very cold. Later, at dusk, the Finns are encamped and one asks for a weather report. “Fifty degrees below zero, with a fifty-knot wind chill, and it’s still snowing”

“Fifty-knot winds, and one knot is one degree of wind chill at fifty below”

(in the lowest voice) “It’s a hundred degrees below zero out there.”

The Finns wondered where their opposing force was. They were still there. They were sent out with summer uniforms.

The comic said it was based on a true story. I wonder.
